While not listing the countries in any specific order, it says that these nations have all shown a willingness to accept Bitcoin technology for their respective residents, for the government, or for both.

This list of nations, which includes three of the biggest advanced economies on the planet — namely Group of Seven members U.S., Canada, and the U.K. — shows that government interest is indeed global. It’s also important to note that many other nations have either accepted cryptocurrencies or are open to doing so in the future.

- Subway: If you’re looking for a retailer of submarine sandwiches, soup and baked goods that accepts Bitcoin in addition to cold hard cash and credit, then Subway may be just up your alley. Some of the franchises of the popular sandwich retailer are accepting Bitcoin, as well as Litecoin, as payment for menu items. The first franchise that started to accept Bitcoin was a store based out of Allentown, Pennsylvania, and the transaction occurred in November 2013. But it’s not only U.S. franchises that are allowing customers to pay using the most widely known cryptocurrency. In fact, a Subway in Russia has also jumped on the bandwagon, and Subways in Slovakia and the Czech Republic are also allowing their customers to use Bitcoin as a payment currency.
- KFC Canada: Earlier this year, the fried chicken chain announced plans to accept Bitcoin for customers desiring to buy “The Bitcoin Bucket,” a limited time offer. In order to take advantage of the offer, customers had to select Bitcoin as the currency option on the company’s website before coming into a store to pick up their order. While this was a publicity stunt, the company intends to offer further Bitcoin promotions going forward.
- Pembury Tavern: If you’re visiting the UK, fancy a pint and have some Bitcoin in your digital wallet, you can quench your thirst for booze at Pembury Tavern, which is located in Hackney, east London. The establishment’s affiliated pubs in Peterborough, Cambridge, and Norwich are also on the Bitcoin bandwagon.
- Long Player: A record store in Berlin, Germany, Long Player accepts Bitcoin as payment alongside cash and credit cards. Nadim Chebli, owner of the company, said in a report that the first Bitcoin purchases came from someone who obtained Tom Waits’ “The Big Time” and another person who obtained a compilation of the Beatles.
- Old Fitzroy Hotel: A hotel in Woolloomooloo, Australia, Old Fitzroy Hotel has since September 2013 allowed customers to buy beer from its pub using Bitcoin. At the time, customers could pay around 0.05 Bitcoin, or $7, for a beer. So, if you’re ever in the Land Down Under and want to spend some Bitcoin on some suds, you know where to go.

- American Airlines, Delta Airlines, and Southwest Airlines: If you’re like many people. you like to go on vacation from time to time. Well, it’s now possible to book your next flight using Bitcoin. In fact you can do so for flights on American Airlines, Delta Airlines, and Southwest Airlines. - One Shot Hotels: You can find quite a few hotel chains that will accept Bitcoin as payment, and one of them is Spanish hotel chain One Shot Hotels. Since October 2014, the company has allowed patrons to use BitPay to pay for stays at a couple of its hotels in Madrid. In fact, one of those two Madrid hotels even has a Bitcoin ATM.
- Coupa Café: This coffee shop in downtown Palo Alto, California allows patrons to purchase items using Bitcoin. So, whether you want a hot drink or something else from the company’s menu, you can have it your way using Bitcoin.
